简介:英国作家詹姆斯·米勒(威廉·施梅尔WilliamShimell饰)来到意大利城市托斯卡纳为新作《合法副本》举办讲bbb。他与读者讨论书中的观点:关于艺术创作真实性的议论是毫无必要的,因为复制品本身即是原作,原作也是由其他作品复制而来。一个做古董买卖的法国女人(朱丽叶·比诺什JulietteBinoche饰)带着11岁的儿子参与了讨论会,想为刚买的书索要签名。中途因为儿子饿了她提前离开,临走时留下了一个电话号码。  米勒和女人在她的古董店再次相遇,他们驱车去郊外看一样东西。她开着车载着米勒无目的游荡,谈论书的主题,参观博物馆,谈论她叛逆的儿子,两人一路上争吵不休。在一个咖啡馆,女老板以为米勒是女人的丈夫,就开始和她围绕米勒讨论起婚姻。于是他们将错就错,米勒开始扮演女人的丈夫,两人约会,去宾馆。但是副本只是复制,而非原作,米勒结束复制身份,独自离开了郊外。  比诺什凭借此片获得第63届戛纳电影节主竞赛单元最佳女演员奖。
